Hey,
I was googlin genmud and I found this site.. I remember the days of my first site... I have moved on to bigger and better things... and I would like to thank you for starting me out on message boards :)
This is actually comical, because I used to use this software... it was simple, but it got the job done. Yea.. Then I migrated to WebWizForums, and I kinda stayed there for a while... until i didn't pay bills for my site, and it went down... then I just played w/ some different stuff on my local webserver and yea... now I am running a big site(b4 i wiped my database) w/ tons of people, but it is not on a windows based server..
I am now running a hosting company, and have 3 rackmounted servers that are reallly awesome... I still have a windows box, but it is one that just sits on the rack, not doing much... I am also running 3 communities w/ vBulletin(best dang php message board software out there) and yea... We have about 1000 members w/ around 20000 posts between 3 communities :)
And can you believe that this was the first message board software that I ever used?
I would like to thank you again for setting me off for message boards and communities... 12/19/2003 11:39:04 PM |

Hi, I am glad to hear that things worked out for you well, and that my work helped you =)
Thank you for sharing that info.
You are right about having unix based servers for big traffic. Usually windows is good for start. But it really depends on the application (functionality) you want to run.
I will check out your site when its up.
Thanks again,
Dmitri.
